Crystal’s Closet is a fine women’s clothing boutique located in the Hudson Valley town of LaGrangeville, NY, just 65 miles from NYC. The business was founded by Crystal Lee in March of 2002. Crystal peered into her closet one day and realized that she had an inventory of fashions that she wore only once. Deciding that she was “probably not alone,” she thought there could be a business here. Thus the first version of Crystal’s Closet was conceived as a consignment shop. After a couple of successful years helping women merchandise their gently used clothing, Crystal decided to branch out. First she bought a unique 1930 Sears Roebuck catalog house. She spent six months transforming it into a women’s shabby chic, theme park-like shop unlike anything else on the east coast. The décor and the clothes change on a weekly basis. Then she set out to purchase the latest fashions from the garment district in NYC. She forged many great relationships with designers and importers that are located just 65 miles away. Because of her eye and experience, Crystal found many one-of-a-kind items that would not be found at the local box store in the mall. Many times she would only purchase a select number of sizes and colors, assuring her patrons, young and old alike, that there would not be too many women walking around with the same styles.
